The Company

Established in 2004, Ocon Construction has successfully completed over £475 million worth of projects, with a diverse array of schemes ranging from £0.5 million to £60 million.  Turnover currently stands at £60 million and is set to increase over the forthcoming years.  Ocon is a wholly owned subsidiary of Opal Property Group, and whilst working collaboratively with the £1 billion student accommodation providers, the Company operates as a separate entity. This enables Ocon’s Board of Directors to develop management strategies that allow the Company to offer their skills and experience to a variety of other clients and professional bodies across a wide range of sectors.

From their head office in Manchester city centre the Board have established a strong team of 85 staff, who are led by Managing Director, Andrew Barker. A strong culture and close knit relations between the Managing Director and his team mean that staff are allocated to projects where their skills and previous experience are fully utilised.

Specialising in fast track design and build schemes with internal expertise in a number of construction solutions, Ocon have produced over 8,500 student rooms and currently have a further 3000 in progress; resulting in a formidable reputation within the student accommodation market.  This knowledge base has been diversified to focus on other rooms based projects such as hotels, residential schemes, care homes, leisure facilities and retail and commercial units for both private and public sector projects.

Ocon has utilised their room based knowledge to diversify into residential schemes, with over 1000 luxury apartment units in Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Stockport and Wigan as well as the full refurbishment of a Hotel in Manchester City Centre and the design and build of a high quality residential care home in Salford.
