OCON DIRECTOR CLIMBS NEW HEIGHTS FOR KIDS AND RAISES OVER £3,300!
Rob completed the Three Peaks Challenge, a gruelling marathon that saw the construction professional climb Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in the Lake District and Snowdon in South Wales, within just 24 hours. His blisters from the mammoth 10,000 ft climb have now healed, and having collected in all the funds from his sponsors, he was delighted to hand over a cheque to Mr Jim Bruce at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital on 12th July.
On receiving the cheque Jim Bruce, Clinical Head of Division and Consultant Paediatric Surgeon at RMCH said, “We rely on fundraising and donations to help us continue to provide world-class treatment, care and research to the children that need us. Rob’s done a great job supporting us and we’d like to thank him for going the extra mile....literally!”
Commented Rob: “There’s no doubt that the Three Peaks Challenge is hard going and both physically and mentally exhausting, but there’s also something very life affirming about it. I’m fortunate to be healthy enough to take on the challenge, which brings into focus the plight of many of the children here in the hospital. I’m delighted to be able to make this contribution to their care.”
